The Prewett Brothers: Forshadowing Things to Come?

by Allison Hartley

I carefully inspected J.K. Rowling’s website and found an interesting piece of information. It was that Molly Weasley’s maiden name was Prewett. The name Prewett rang a bell in my head. I carefully reread all of the books and found in the Sorcerer’s Stone. Hagrid mentioned them as one of the best wizards of the age. In the fifth book, we find out that Gideon and Fabian Prewett were brutally murdered by 5 Death Eaters. They died heroes. Unfortunately for us, the readers, J.K. Rowling does not tell us how the brothers are related to Molly. I think that they were her brothers because J.K. Rowling said that close members of Molly’s family were murdered. I believe that they were her only brothers and she never wanted one of her children to be an only child if something happened to their siblings. That is why, I think, she had so many children.

Sadly, this theory makes me think that at least one Weasley brother will die. I based my theory on the names of the Prewett brothers. More accurately, I base it on the solid facts that Gideon’s name starts with ‘G’ and Fabian’s with ‘F’. Now, many people did not realize this, and I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t felt a sudden urge to find out where the Prewetts were mentioned.

My theory is that two Weasley brothers with the initials ‘F’ and ‘G’ will die. Those brothers are Fred and George. This leaves me depressed because George is my favorite character. However, I hope that you are not as depressed as I am about this and use it to brace yourself.
