James Cameron visits Wizarding World, scouts for new Disney area

The Orlando Sentinel blog is reporting that Avatar director James Cameron visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter earlier today.

Last month, we told you that Disney was looking to add an Avatar-themed area to its park to compete with the successes Universal has seen since opening The Wizarding World in June 2010.

“He’s been scoping things out at Disney in preparation for the upcoming expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a land devoted to his ‘Avatar’ films.

It makes perfect sense that Cameron would check out the competition (and the hottest thing in theme parks) while in town. And it would make sense that he’d be accompanied by Scott Trowbridge (white hat), a Walt Disney Imagineering vice president who held a similar position at NBC Universal until 2007.”
