A Fan’s Review of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1”

Abstract: A rather positive view on the first installment of the “Deathly Hallows” movie.
How did I feel about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 movie? Seeing the movie a few months ago, I’ll tell you how I felt about it.
Before I start talking about the movie itself, I wanted to talk about the posters. The posters were amazing, reflecting what’s out there for the trio and the dangers they’re in. The photoshop skills were amazing, I loved every single poster.
The way I felt about the movie can’t be described. It was stunning, beautiful, amazing… etc. It lived up to my expectations. The movie was stunning with its visual effects. David Yates managed to put a lot of effort to improve the style and the darkness of the film since Order of the Phoenix. This movie was the best one, in my opinion, in the visual effects era. Lighting, camera angles, and everything else was perfect in that zone. Since we’re talking special effects, I’d like to add the “Tale of the Three Brothers” scene. That part of the movie was shockingly prodigious… I did not see that coming. I just fell in love with it. I can’t describe how perfectly it was made.
The movie starts with an amazing introduction to a new character, Rufus Scrimgeour, and shows a great speech by him. I just love those lines he said.
The acting and casting were amazing in this film, not that they weren’t in the previous movies. Emma and Rupert’s performances were mind-blowing. They deeply developed and brought to life their characters as they went through rough times.
The next thing I want to talk about is the set designs in the movie. I’d like to start with the Ministry of Magic. We are able to see the hard work the crew members have put in to make it as real as possible, and they HAVE SUCCEEDED! The black and golden colors they’ve used are fancy and sophisticated. What amazes me even more is that they had to rebuild the whole thing again, and it’s exactly the same as I remember it in Order of the Phoenix. Second, the design of the Lovegood house was really nice. I loved how weird the house was. It reflected how the Lovegoods themselves really are. The design had fun and artistic aspects, like the room and the paintings. Next, I’d like to talk about the Malfoy Manor. I think that this was the best design of all. It had a very elegant and classy style. The chandelier, large dining table, EVERYTHING. Another thing I liked was Dumbledore’s tomb. It felt perfect to Dumbledore’s character.
The movie was very humorous, and I have to say, it was very nice to have humor lighten the dark times.
The pacing of the movie was a bit slow. I didn’t mind it and didn’t feel bored. We needed some of that time because a lot was going on throughout the story.
The emotions in the movie were very intense and at stake. The gloomy time affected people, and the cast did a great job portraying the situation. Dobby’s death especially was very emotional and sad.
The foreshadowing in the movie was very clever. I mean, Bellatrix’s hair falling on Hermione was a very smart move. When I saw that, I was like, “What was that for?” but after some thinking, I remembered that it’s essential for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Let’s move on to the soundtrack. After John Williams left, the soundtracks were composed by different people, who did a great job composing, but Williams’ music felt more unique. Now, with this movie, Alexandre Desplat has composed a charming score that perfectly fits with the movie and I think that the score is as amazing as Williams’ work for the previous films.
Although I really loved the movie, I want to discuss some things that I didn’t like in the movie. Firstly, I didn’t like the fact that they deleted the scene where Harry and Dudley finally become friends. That was essential since they hated Harry from the very beginning. OH WELL! Secondly, the usage of spells was very irritating. Honestly, doesn’t Harry know a spell other than STUPEFY?
I want to state that this movie did justice to the book. I am very glad that the filmmakers split the movies because they made a great job staying very true to the book. I think it will be a perfect ending with the great efforts and passion of the filmmakers.
Conclusion:
This was an amazing and unforgettable movie, but not the best in the entire series. I really miss Hogwarts. Although I think Deathly Hallows as a whole would be considered the best movie. I’m very much anticipating the final movie a lot. The feeling is bittersweet! I REALLY can’t wait to see it end, but also very sad that it’s ending. Well, on the positive side, we grew up with a phenomenal story and had great memories with it.
