Emma Watson to present at MTV Movie Awards – Trailer for “Perks of a Wallflower” to debut
Earlier today, Emma Watson tweeted a special announcement:
#PerksOfBeingAWallflower Trailer is going to show at the@mtvmovieawards pre-show!@LoganLerman and Ezra and I will be there to present. : )
Fans of Emma Watson have been waiting what seems like an eternity to hear word of the movie she filmed in Pittsburgh last year. We reported previously that the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) originally gave the film an “R” rating, which meant that children under 17 would not be permitted to view the film without an adult. However, an appeal by the filmmakers overturned the initial rating and it is now listed as PG-13 for “mature thematic material, drug and alcohol use, sexual content including references, and a fight – all involving teens.”
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is based on the book by novelist Stephen Chbosky and is set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during the 1991-1992 school year. The story follows the school year of the main character Charlie, played by Logan Lerman, and explores topics such as introversion and the awkward times of adolescence.
We still do not have an official release date, but news that the trailer will debut at the MTV Movie Awards should hint towards a release in the near future.
Emma followed up her original announcement on Twitter with this statement:
@EmWatson: Sorry I couldn’t mention anything sooner! Thank you to everyone who has voted for HP ! You guys and girls are so awesome : ) xx
Meanwhile, we will look forward to seeing Emma on the red carpet.
