Beetle bears uncanny resemblance to Golden Snitch

It’s almost as if Professor McGonagall transfigured the Snitch into a beetle! The U.K.’s Daily Mail has recently noted a resemblance between the Golden Tortoise Beetle and Quidditch’s most sought-after prize. Not only is the beetle’s golden hue reminiscent of the elusive snitch, it can also change it’s color and reflectivity-like magic!

The beetle appeared this week in U.K. news because of some new high-quality images taken of the species by photographer Chime Tsetan. You can check out more of these remarkable photos here. These pictures were all taken in India, but it looks like the Golden Tortoise Beetle is also commonly found in eastern North America, so keep your eyes open!

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
