Daniel Radcliffe discusses “Potter” and “Kill Your Darlings” with the “Today Show”

Dan Radcliffe dropped by the Today Show this morning to discuss his new film Kill Your Darlings. Like most interviews with Dan, the Harry Potter films came up. When asked if he deliberately chooses parts that are different from Potter, Dan replied,

“Yes, but at the same time I don’t know what I could have done that would have necessarily been similar to Harry unless I’d signed up immediately for another sort of young adult fantasy series… I don’t just want to not repeat Harry Potter, but I also don’t want to repeat The Woman in Black or now, Kill Your Darlings. I think any actor that really enjoys what they do and wants to have a long career realizes that they key is, you know, versatility…”

Kill Your Darlings is turning a few heads because Dan appears in a gay love scene in the film. Asked if the attention surrounding the film surprises him, Dan stated,

“I”m not surprised. I would be a very stupid person if I didn”t expect some reaction to that… I don’t really mind what reasons people go in to see the film… if they’re slightly salacious or whatever. Ultimately, they’re going to go in and see a really compelling drama.”

Kill Your Darlings hits theaters on October 16. What do you think of Dan’s choice of roles? Let us know in the comments!
