Washington College holds Quidditch tournament to benefit Relay for Life!

What’s better than Quidditch? Quidditch for a cause!

On Saturday, February 15, Washington College hosted Relay for Gryffindor, a Quidditch tournament to raise money for their Relay for Life, a 24-hour event dedicated to raising funds for cancer research, education, awareness, and services. The event included the Quidditch match itself, played by children from the local community, delicious snacks, and even a raffle for a Time-Turner.

Emily Evans, chair of the Washington College Relay for Life committee, said, “Ultimately, [Relay] is about having fun, spreading cancer awareness, and raising as much money as we can for cancer patients and their families.”

The event also served as a pre-cursor to their big Birthday Ball, which was held on Saturday, February 22. The theme of their annual George Washington’s Birthday Ball was Harry Potter: The Wizarding World of Washington College.

You can read the whole article from their student newspaper, The Elm, here or check out more photos from the event here.
