J.K. Rowling has completed the script for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”

Buried in a recent Telegraph interview with Potter producer David Heyman is some exciting news for Harry Potter fans – the script for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is complete.

In the interview, Heyman praises J.K. Rowling’s writing ability, seemingly alluding to a script he’s already seen:

Jo’s a good scriptwriter, too. She is so smart, and her turn of phrase, the precision of the language she uses, is a joy to behold.

Then, in a follow-up posted by the Telegraph, Heyman further confirmed the completion of the script.

Jo [Rowling] has written a wonderful script. It’s early stages. David Yates is directing, and we start filming next year. I’m just really excited about it.

With just these few short sentences, Heyman has no doubt unleashed a new wave of speculation about the upcoming Fantastic Beasts film. At this time, we still don’t know anything about the movie except that it will take place in New York City roughly 70 years before the events of Harry Potter and will, of course, star Newt Scamander.

Now that the script – or at least a draft of it – is completed, it hopefully won’t be long until more Fantastic Beasts news, like casting or plot details, begins to come to light.

Are you planning on staying spoiler-free right up until you sit down to watch the film in theaters? Or will you be gobbling up every piece of information you can get your hands on?

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
