Social Roundup: Rowling on a Roll

by Claire Furner · June 7, 2015

After months of speculation, we’ve finally had our Newt confirmed this week.

Thrilled that Eddie Redmayne will be starring in Fantastic Beasts. He'll be a perfect Newt Scamander!

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 3, 2015

Some people, at least, were pleased!

Whilst Redmayne may not be to everyone’s taste, we at MuggleNet are staying positive.

Welcoming #EddieRedmayne to the Potter family be like… pic.twitter.com/TElaulwxoN

As we wait for further Fantastic Beasts news, we can surely rely on Rowling‘s excellent Twitter form to keep us keen.

Indeed, over the past week alone, we’ve been treated to character confirmations,

.@MaddieDUHx 'Tina' is what her friends and family call her. Would YOU want everyone to call you Porpentina?!

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 4, 2015

.@MaddieDUHx Yes!

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 4, 2015

information on U.S. charitable organisations,

.@jgrahamhutch The Salem Witches' Institute isn't a school, but a joke on the Women's Institute in the UK.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 6, 2015

and teaching institutions.

.@MrBanankartong That information will be revealed in due course.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 6, 2015

Sort of…

.@tannerfbowen No, but he's going to meet people who were educated at [name] in [not New York].

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 6, 2015

.@loonyloolaluna If I answer that fully it will reveal the location of the school, but you can take that as a yes!

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 7, 2015

.@loonyloolaluna Oh wait – did you mean the NAME is of American Indian origin? It isn't. The name is of immigrant origin.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 7, 2015

.@loonyloolaluna However, indigenous magic was important in the founding of the school. If I say which tribes, location is revealed.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 7, 2015

And when she wasn’t talking about Fantastic Beasts, she was still keeping it firmly in the wizarding world.

.@NeilBlairTBP @valmcdermid And it's the day before Draco Malfoy's.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 4, 2015

.@gillianngracee Draco turns 35 today. I'm not invited to the party, mainly because I keep telling girls they're misguided to fancy him.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 5, 2015

.@triannamn Snape had his faults, but he was incredibly brave.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 5, 2015

.@veronicalloyd_ Harry left Remus's name for Teddy to use for his own son.

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) June 5, 2015

What a week! And that’s not even including all the Potter alumni updates, like when Matt met Ariana Grande or when Emma shared some love for Evanna. Join us next weekend for more social media fun times and don’t forget to let us know your thoughts on all this Rowling content in the comments below.

We leave you with this warming message from The Queen.

.@m_abs All these people saying they never got their Hogwarts letter: you got the letter. You went to Hogwarts. We were all there together.
