Lumos to Support Research on Institutions by NUI Galway

Lumos, J.K. Rowling’s wonderful charity determined to end the institutionalization of children, has recently announced it will be working with NUI Galway. Together, they will be determining why the majority of children in institutions are those with living parents.

The Irish Times writes that it is believed that 80% of children in orphanages or institutions have been left there by their own parents, who, because of their circumstances, have surrendered their children. Through this research, Lumos and NUI Galway hope to be able to grow closer to Lumos’s goal of ending the institutionalization of children around the world.

The work that Lumos is doing is bringing good into the world, and this new research is sure to help them do even more!
