“Hunger Games” Composer Will Score “Fantastic Beasts”

Following in the illustrious footsteps of the likes of John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat, it has been revealed that eight-time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard will compose the score for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Howard is known for his work on a number of blockbuster films over the past three decades, including the Hunger Games trilogy, Pretty Woman, The Sixth Sense, King Kong, and many others. His original scores have eight times landed him among the Oscar nominees in that category, most recently in 2009 for his work on Defiance, and Howard can also count a Grammy Award win for his work on the score of The Dark Knight (with Hans Zimmer) among his achievements.

The music of the Harry Potter films has become iconic all over the world, and we can’t wait to see what the score of Fantastic Beasts adds to that legacy!

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
