First Look at Matthew Lewis in West End Play “Unfaithful”

Unfaithful, starring Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), opens on London’s West End on Wednesday, and now we have our first look at production images, including one of a shirtless Matt!

Described as a black comedy, Unfaithful is about two tangled relationships laced with old regrets and desires. Alongside Matt Lewis, it stars Sean Campion (The Borgias), Niamh Cusack (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time), and Ruta Gedmintas (The Strain). The play was first shown at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014.

There’s a noticeable age difference between the couples, which will presumably add an interesting dynamic to the story.

Matthew spoke with the Evening Standard, stating that he’d done some personal research to find his footing for his new role:

One gentleman actually came in and talked to us for an afternoon which was absolutely invaluable . . . He had a wonderful way of describing the industry and his experiences in it and it was so uncanny how similar his story was to Peter’s. He talked about the things they were asked by clients and how they wanted to put him into a box and fix him but he was literally doing it to make some money and he was his own boss and he was just like Peter.

The play runs from August 31 to October 8, 2016, at Found111. Tickets are available for £35 at full price or £20 for students.

Matthew also revealed that after the play ends its run, he’s taking a bit of a break, but left his plans open, saying,

What is important is the project. If it’s something that’s exciting I don’t care about the medium.

What do you think his next project should be? Let Matthew know by leaving your suggestions in the comments!
