“Excitement and Fear”: Jude Law on Decoding Dumbledore
When it was announced earlier this month that Jude Law would be playing the role of young Albus Dumbledore in the second installment of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the world went crazy! Whether the opinions were good, bad, or in between, everyone had one. One person who was staying silent, however, was Albus himself. Until now, that is.
In an interview with BBC, the 44-year-old actor opens up about being cast in such an iconic role.
[I’m] excited by the whole prospect…curious, excited…I think all good jobs have an element of fear amongst them. You know, because you obviously want to do well by it. You want to please everyone. You want to please people, and you want to please yourself.
Law also stated that the first thing he wants to do is speak to J.K. Rowling and find out more about the beloved professor in his younger years.
It’s safe to say any critics can rest a bit easier knowing that he will be consulting with Rowling before beginning the role.
Are you excited to see Law’s portrayal of Dumbledore? What are some aspects of young Dumbledore you’d like to see come to life?
