Top Seven Missing Moments

Previously, I’ve looked at my favorite and least favorite book-to-movie adaptations, and now I’m looking at the moments I missed most from the movies.

Hermione and the Logic Puzzle

I understand that escaping from Devil’s Snare was supposed to be Hermione’s shining moment, but it would have been nice to see her solve Snape’s complicated riddle.

The Triwizard Maze

I loved this challenge in the books, especially all the magical creatures. It was so detailed and exciting to read. I would have liked to have seen how the filmmakers included the sphinx and the Blast-Ended Skrewts in the film.

Peeves

I loved Peeves in the book. He was a great comic relief character, especially when Umbridge was around and after Voldemort’s death. I would have enjoyed seeing him interact with the twins and Harry.

Dumbledore’s Explanation

I remember watching Order of the Phoenix in the theater and being confused by the whole Harry/ Voldemort possession scene. It wasn’t till I went and read the books that it made sense to me. It would have been helpful to include the explanation at the end of the film, though.

Dudley and Harry’s Reconciliation

Although this was filmed, it never actually made it into Deathly Hallows – Part 1. After everything Dudley did to Harry, Dudley acknowledging that Harry saved his life would have been a good redemptive moment to end on.

Neville’s Parents

We did learn a little about his parents from the films, but we never actually met them. In the books, the characters see his parents and see Neville interacting with them. It just adds more to Neville’s character and gives us an insight into his familial life.

Tom Riddle’s Background

In the books, we got a detailed background for Tom, including his parentage and his life in the orphanage. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we skimmed over the details and didn’t fully get to see Tom Riddle’s backstory.

What do you think of my list? Are there any other missing moments you would include? Let us know in the comments!
