Katherine Waterston Doesn’t Mind Being the “Invisible Woman”

by Alison Siggard · May 9, 2017

Fans are now familiar with the quiet determination that actress Katherine Waterston can bring to a role after her portrayal of Tina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Like Tina, Waterston’s next role features a determined leading woman who is tested and finds she can rise to the occasion: scientist Daniels in the upcoming Alien: Covenant. In a recent interview in Time Out London magazine, Waterson discussed her upcoming role – and why she might not be able to see the film herself!

When asked about her reaction to the original Alien film, she admitted she saw it at age ten and is still terrified by it. This carried over to this newest addition to the franchise, which she stars in.

I scare very easily. I felt nauseous after watching a preview clip of Alien: Covenant. My hands were shaking. Ridley [Scott, director] really enjoys terrifying people.

In the interview, Waterston also spoke about the role she has probably become most recognizable for: Tina. However, unlike other wizarding world stars in the Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, it seems Waterston is able to keep a low profile on a day-to-day basis.

I can walk down the street. People don’t notice me. I’m the invisible woman. That’s fine with me.

We certainly love to see her light up our screens as a now-reinstated Auror, however!

Alien: Covenant is released in the UK on May 12 and the US on May 19.

Will you be seeing Alien: Covenant? What do you hope Waterston brings to the role? Let us know in the comments!
