Announcing the 2018 IARA Award Nominations!
It’s that time of year again – the International Achievement Recognition Awards have announced their 2018 nominees. This prestigious awards show highlights outstanding talent in the theater, music, film, TV, and fashion industries, with several Harry Potter alumni nominated this year.
Rupert Grint’s role as scammer Charlie Cavendish-Scott on BBC’s Snatch has landed him a well-deserved nomination for Best Young Actor, but he’s not the only Gryffindor up for the award. Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas) has also been nominated for his work as Wes Gibbins on How to Get Away with Murder. They’re competing against stars like John Boyega and Daniel Kaluuya, so this category will certainly see a close race.
David Tennant (Barty Crouch, Jr.) has received a nomination for his role as the title character in Don Juan in Soho on the West End. Tennant got rave reviews for his performance in Patrick Marber’s modern adaptation of the Molière classic, but he also faces some seriously talented competition in the Best Actor category!
Anna Shaffer, whom you may remember as Romilda Vane in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is up for Best Emerging Actress for her work on the long-running teen soap opera Hollyoaks. Shaffer has starred on the show since 2011, so it’s wonderful to see her get the recognition she deserves!
Gemma Chan was only on-screen for a moment as Madam Ya Zhou in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but she certainly left an impression! She’s nominated for Best Actress for her work in Transformers: The Last Knight and will also soon appear in Crazy Rich Asians and Captain Marvel.
Good luck to all of our nominees! The IARA awards will take place on September 22 in London.
