Events Roundup: Prepare for Some Magic and Mischief This Halloween

Fall has arrived, which means that Halloween is around the corner, and there is no better way to spend it than dressing up as your favorite Harry Potter character.

Retrace Harry’s Steps at the Watercress Line

If you are in the UK, Watercress Line is inviting wizards and witches of all ages to make magic and mischief at the railway’s popular Wizard Weekend event. Running from October 27 to 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., this event promises an exciting array of Harry Potter–themed activities.

You can dress up as a Halloween spook or your favorite Potter character and take unlimited rides on the Wizard Express steam train in one of Watercress Line’s Harry Potter–style coaches. You will also get the opportunity to retrace Harry’s steps on the real King’s Cross footbridge and meet some familiar faces on Platform 9 3/4. Activities for the little ones will include learning how to make a witch’s broomstick, getting their faces painted into something scary, and trying their hand at some Halloween crafts.

There will also be some magical entertainment for the entire family, including spectacular owl and falcon displays, magic performances, and a host of creepy creatures.

Marketing manager Woodies Mountford expressed his excitement over the event:

We’re delighted to be celebrating Halloween with our Wizard Weekend event again this year. With a Harry Potter twist, there’s so much for all the family to get involved in and enjoy a magical Halloween weekend to remember.

Visitors are encouraged to don their best spooky costumes for a chance to win a special prize in the Watercress Line’s daily fancy dress competition. You can grab your tickets for the event here.

Treat Your Child to a “Harry Potter”–inspired Halloween Party

Are you a parent who simply can’t wait to introduce your child to the wizarding world? Then you can start planning your little one’s outfit for the Harry Potter–inspired Halloween party that is taking place at the Laboratory Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, on October 26 from 6:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This unique Halloween party, hosted by wizarding staff and fellow ghosts, will have a scientific twist. Children can wear their best wizard’s clothes or attend as their Muggle selves. They will learn some lessons in ghostdom and even get to see a few explosions. Afterward, they will be treated to a pizza dinner. Tickets are $45. You can get them here.

Marica Laing

Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter and my love for the stories grew as I got older. It’s no surprise then that I love writing about all things Potter related. When I’m not writing about all the magic, you’ll find me reading (probably something Harry Potter related), listening to music, or writing some songs.
