The Second Edition of “The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore” to Be Released

by Victor Chan · February 10, 2019

We at MuggleNet are grateful for the years of insightful Harry Potter analysis that Irvin Khaytman, better known as hpboy13, has contributed to the site via his column, The Three Broomsticks. On July 31, 2018, Khaytman’s book, The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, was published by Story Spring Publishing and received glowing reviews. On February 13, 2019, the second edition of Khaytman’s book, which he jokingly calls The Second Life and Further Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore or The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore: Now with Even More Lies, will be published by Analytical Autumn Publishing.

In The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Khaytman takes an investigative approach to the Harry Potter books, reading between the lines of the text to dissect this complex character.

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, is one of the most recognizable and mysterious figures in the Harry Potter series. As an unscrupulous beetle-like journalist once said, he’s ‘a biographer’s dream.’ Is he omniscient or limited? Is he benevolent or malevolent? What really drove him in the last years of an extraordinary life?

This book will dive between the lines of the Harry Potter books to create a portrait of the controversial Headmaster. Through analyzing the careful clues buried in the Harry Potter text, we deduce what Dumbledore knew, what he planned, and why he made the choices he did. We find Dumbledore’s hand in every seeming coincidence, and we consider the impossible decisions he had to make. This book casts events in the Harry Potter series in a new light, resolving unanswered fan questions that linger to this day.

Since The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was released on Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling’s shared birthday, it’s fitting that the second edition of the book is being released on Khaytman and Luna Lovegood’s shared birthday.

With the additions made throughout the book, the second edition of The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is 10% longer than its first edition. Some of the additions made to the book’s second edition were inspired by Episode 251 of Alohomora!, which Khaytman was a guest on, discussing Chapter 7 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, “The Will of Albus Dumbledore.”

The second edition of The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore will be available in both physical and digital formats, and readers will be able to order the book from their local bookstores. The paperback and e-book can also be ordered from Barnes & Noble. If readers have the paperback version of the book, then they can follow any of the links provided in the book by visiting the “Further Reading” section of the book’s website.

For international readers, The Life and Lies of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is available in all formats on Amazon. US readers can order the book here, and UK readers can order the book here.

The book is also available from all other e-book retailers, and readers can buy the book from their preferred e-book provider here.

Irvin will be at MISTI-Con and Leviosa later this year to discuss and sign copies of the book, as well as debate Potter with whoever wants to!

So many fans visit King’s Cross Station to take pictures of Platforms 9 and 10 that the station management erected a sign that says “Platform 9 3/4,” which, in the Harry Potter books, is invisible to Muggles but acts as a gateway for witches and wizards.
