Review: “Battle of HOGWARTS™” Illuminated Sculpture from The Bradford Exchange

Harry Potter has plenty of duels, but none more epic than the final showdown between Harry and Voldemort during the Battle of Hogwarts, and The Bradford Exchange has created a truly remarkable piece to commemorate Harry’s triumph over evil. Our Campaign Coordinator, Laurie Beckoff, got the chance to witness the battle firsthand.

Who can forget the incredible production design, cinematography, and special effects that brought this unforgettable scene to life? Horcruxes destroyed, Harry resurrected, Hogwarts castle in ruins as the Chosen One faces his enemy for the last time. The Bradford Exchange’s “Battle of HOGWARTS™” Illuminated Sculpture captures the iconic moment in all its glory. The brilliance of the red and green jets of light from Harry and Voldemort’s respective wands in this sculpture serves as a reminder of the significant juxtaposition between Harry’s defensive Disarming Charm and Voldemort’s violent Killing Curse. While Voldemort may have the physical high ground on the crumbling steps, it is Harry who holds the moral high ground.

This piece puts you right in the center of the action. I can practically hear the swelling score playing in the background. The detail is astounding, from the bits of broken stone to the creases in the duellists’ clothing. The addition of the spells makes the moment truly dynamic. Among my various Potter figurines, it stands out as a climactic snapshot that almost feels like it’s in motion.

Add three AAA batteries to light up the magical blasts and bring the spectacle to a whole new level. A switch is hidden under the staircase, easily accessible without having to lift the sculpture. The wands provide just the right amount of mood lighting when you turn off the ceiling lights for a Potter movie marathon. Putting the piece against a solid background creates a cool shadow effect.
