Social Media Roundup: Pawfect Companions

by Lucy O'Shea · August 9, 2020

Welcome to this “paw-some” edition of the Social Media Roundup! This week, your favorite Wizarding World alumni have been spending time with man’s best friend, as well as revealing new projects and sharing their support for people in Beirut, Lebanon.

There has been an increased number of puppy-related social media posts over the past two weeks, and we certainly aren’t complaining!

Tom Felton shared a photo of his dog, Willow, before they both set off on a skateboarding adventure.

Katie Leung (Cho Chang) shared a photo of her adorable (and incredibly fluffy) pooch, Bao.

The final pup for this roundup is Nellie, whose owner is none other than Matthew Lewis. He shared a photo of the two of them settling down for a relaxing evening.

After a tiring day of PlayStation for me and chasing squirrels for Nellie it’s time to put our feet up and assume our positions for the rest of the evening.

Now that all of that puppy love is out of the way, let’s take a look at some of the new and upcoming projects that alumni have been promoting.

Bonnie Wright has been continuing her environmentalist work by hosting Instagram Lives with inspiring people who are working for change. Her most recent chat was with Kevin Patel, a leading climate activist from Los Angeles.

Me when @turningorange tells me to ‘use the nature’ in our outdoor shoot today 🌳😄⁣ ⁣ Our July @kinderbeautybox is here and there are 2️⃣ of them!! Check out my stories today to see the Rose collection and @daniellamonet’s to see the Jasmine collection 📦💗⁣ ⁣ We are growing as a company thanks to your belief in us and that means it was time to curate 2x collections per month. It’s really important to us that Kinder Beauty continues to be able to support and collaborate with small, independently-owned vegan + cruelty free brands and that has meant curating two boxes so they can meet the order numbers. Each collection is curated with the same amount of attention and intention to be absolutely sure you are going to love whichever box lands on your doorstep. We promise!! ⁣ ⁣ Thank you to our awesome brands this month @inikaorganic @earthharbor @celaskin @ecolips @lovethepopband @oseamalibu @sonageskincare @juicebeauty 💄💋🧖‍♀️ ⁣ …I can’t believe I used to worry we would quickly run out of vegan + CF brands to work with 😅 There’s never been a more exciting time to be working in the vegan beauty space! 💛🧡💗⁣ ⁣ #veganbeauty #crueltyfree #KinderBeautyBox #noanimaltesting #ethicalbeauty

Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) has been involved in an audiobook that celebrates the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Cave and her sister Bebeb have performed at the festival a number of times, but sadly, this year’s festival cannot take place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the Cave sisters recorded a piece for the Edinburgh Unlocked audiobook, which is available now (a slight language warning for the clip).

Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) also has something new to promote. A number of new merchandise pieces have been added to his online store, including T-shirts, beanies, and mugs!

And it seems that while Chris Rankin has been dropping merch, Matthew Lewis is waiting for merch to be dropped! He shared his struggles of waiting for the release of the new kit for his favorite soccer team, Leeds United.

We’re right there with you, Matthew; we know how difficult waiting for the release of things, *cough* Harry Potter books *cough*, can be!

James Phelps (Fred Weasley) has been continuing with stargazing, a hobby that he picked up during lockdown. He shared a photo of Jupiter and its moons that he had taken through his telescope.

And of course, his brother Oliver (George Weasley) had something to say about it. After all, what are brothers for?

Yeah but where are the cow-tipping alien teenagers? 🤔🤔 https://t.co/TZZIltLZd7

— Oliver Phelps (@OliverPhelps) August 2, 2020

Finally, Afshan Azad (Padma Patil) and Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) showed their support for the people of Beirut, Lebanon, after a huge explosion happened in the city at the beginning of August.

Never ever seen anything like what I’m seeing now in Lebanon. Heartbreaking to see this happening to a country who’s faced years of conflict and civil war and a destroyed economy to this. Heartbreaking. Praying for survivors.

— Afshan Azad (@afshan_azad) August 4, 2020

There are crises and there are emergencies. If you saw the pictures, feel you can spare anything and want to help, the @britishredcross is raising funds to support the Lebanese Red Cross who are evacuating and treating the injured as you read this. Thankshttps://t.co/ZSjl4QXhKW

And that’s it for this edition of Social Media Roundup. Make sure to check back in two weeks’ time to see what our favorite Wizarding World alumni have been up to.
