Castium Revelio: Golden Tickets and Superhero Teasers

Welcome to this week’s Casting News! Last week, we told you about Netflix’s first original anime, a reprising role for Domhall Gleeson, and a possible Enola Holmes sequel. This week, we bring exciting news from Netflix’s The Sandman, as well as BAFTA TV nominations for Potter stars. Without further ado, let’s hop right into it. Castium Revelio!

 

 

Harry Potter Cast and Crew

First up this week is a new film featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who played 11-year-old Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It's called First Love and is currently in production in LA. It follows Fiennes Tiffin's character, Jim, as he experiences the highs and lows of his first love with Ann, while his parents simultaneously face issues due to the 2008 financial crisis. We can't wait to see the movie when it is released.

Next up is something you won't have to wait to watch: the first trailer for Last Night in Soho has been released! The psychological thriller surrounds a young girl who manages to travel to the 1960s and features James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley). The film will be released this October. Stephen Fry (narrator of the Bloomsbury audiobooks) will open an online literary festival for a school in Wales this June. The school normally hosts a trip to the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts, but after the trip was canceled again, the school created its own online event. The five-day event is called New Horizons and features several actors, including Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter series. 

Fry has also recently been announced as part of the cast of Netflix's The SandmanDavid Thewlis (Remus Lupin) was also announced as part of the cast on Wednesday. Thewlis will play John Dee, and Fry will play Gilbert in this adaptation of Neil Gaiman's comic book series of the same name. They join Tom Sturridge, Charles Dance, and many others who have previously been announced. 

 

 

Timothée Chalamet has joined the cast of producer David Heyman's latest projectWonka. The film follows the early life of one of the most eccentric and iconic characters created by Roald Dahl. Chalamet plays the lead role in the film, which will be released in 2023. Plot details have been kept very quiet so far, but we do know that Chalamet's role includes both singing and dancing. We can't wait to find out more about the film, and we'll keep you updated as we learn more!

Five years after the project was first announced, we have a trailer for the family-friendly adventure film Riverdance: The Animated AdventureBrendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye Moody) features in the film, which is inspired by the theater production Riverdance. The film's soundtrack is based on traditional Irish folk music. The Sky original production was released yesterday in the United Kingdom.

 

 

 

We have rumors of a potential reprising role for Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy). His Star Trek character, Gabriel Lorca, has previously been seen only as his Mirror Universe self in Star Trek: Discovery. With the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, fans are hoping to finally meet his Prime Universe counterpart, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuarón discussed his latest project The Disciple recently. The full interview is available for you to watch below! Cuarón was the executive producer of the film, which follows the life of a wannabe musician as he doubts his ability to go professional.

 

 

 

Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew) has turned from actor to artist after learning how to paint for his role as J.M.W. Turner in the film Mr. Turner. He's proven himself as a talented artist and has now been offered a solo show for one of his pieces. The work, which is called Out of the Storm, will be on show at Pontone Gallery in London from June 18. 

Helena Bohnam Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) has been recruited by Sofology to help with its latest advertisement scheme. Jan Duckworth, head of marketing at Sofology, said that "she perfectly encapsulates the unique creativity that goes into each one of our designs. She and the team have truly brought our imagination to life and embodied our mission to help everyone feel at home on a stylish sofa they love," and we can't agree more. 

We have news of more success for Carter next, as she is one of two Potter actors to gain a BAFTA TV Award nomination. Her performance as Princess Margaret in Netflix's The Crown earned her a nomination for the Supporting Actress award. The other Potter actor to gain a nomination is the late Paul Ritter (Eldred Worple). He has been nominated for the Male Performance in a Comedy Show award for his role in Friday Night Dinner. The ceremony will take place on June 6. We'll keep you updated on how they get on!

Fantastic Beasts Cast and Crew

Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for its new film Eternals. The movie features Gemma Chan (Ya Zhou) as Sersi, who first appeared in the 1976 comic book series of the same name as the new film. The film surrounds an immortal alien race of god-like beings and will be released this October. You can watch the trailer below!
