Events Roundup: Comic Conventions, Bar Crawls, and Murder Mysteries
It’s the spooky season, everyone! October has begun, and that means making your friends sit through all eight Potter movies every weekend until they are definitely not your friends anymore. Okay, maybe not every weekend but at least a couple of times this month. Or perhaps, if you are more inclined to spend your time on adventures, we still have a wonderful list of things to do this month. With that in mind, let’s get started on this week’s Events Roundup.
Wizard Pub Crawl
Muggles and wizards can both agree that a good night out at pubs is well worth bonding over. Bar Crawl USA is organizing events in the Columbus, Ohio, and Cincinnati, Ohio, areas for adult Harry Potter fans. On October 16, join your friends for a fun night out. The night’s activities will include discounted themed drinks, live trivia, House sorting, a costume contest, and more. The party starts at 2:00 p.m. on October 16 in both cities. Registration is $25 per person, and you can sign up online. Information about where to start your crawl can be found online for both the Columbus and the Cincinnati events.
Wizard World Chicago
The Wizard World convention is headed back to Chicago, Illinois. From Friday, October 15 to Sunday, October 17, you can enjoy multiple days of celebrity encounters, concerts, photo ops, kids’ activities, panels, and so much more. Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) is scheduled to make appearances on Saturday and Sunday for a conversation or two with fans. General admission starts at $40 for one day. VIP packages are available to purchase, as well as packages for photo ops, celebrity autographs, special events, and merchandise. Wizard World Chicago will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. For more information on times, admission, and tickets, visit the event website.
Comic Con Prague
Comic Con Prague now has new dates for October. From Friday, October 15 to Sunday, October 17, many actors, comic creators, cosplayers, and others will appear. Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) is confirmed to make appearances on Friday and Saturday of the convention for photos and autographs. Tickets are on sale now, starting at 790 CZK (about US$36). Comic Con Prague will be held at the O2 Universum in Libeň, Prague. More information about tickets, admission, and times can be found on the event website.
Murder Mystery Wine Train
Booze, murder mysteries, and trains are always good combinations, right? The Napa Valley Wine Train is hosting tours with a twist. The Wizards and Witches–themed night will surely jinx guests as actors stage a realistic performance of a murder most foul. Riders must deduce what really happened on the train ride if they have any hopes of catching the killer on board. There are multiple nights to purchase tickets for. October 2, 9, 16, and 23 will be nights with a witchy theme. Other themes have been scheduled throughout the holiday season, including Crime and Punishment, Give Thanks Onboard, Jingle + Mingle, and A Journey to the New Year. The train ride lasts about two hours, and tickets are $555. Dressing up in your favorite wizarding attire is encouraged. Book your tickets sooner rather than later because seating is limited. For more information about tickets, visit the event website.
Harry Potter Art Camp
If you have any tiny, creative Harry Potter lovers in your home, then the Harry Potter art camp is the perfect place to let them enjoy some fall fun. This themed art exhibition in Dublin, Ireland, will allow kids to explore a variety of mediums, including acrylic painting, watercolor painting, pastel art, and other crafting techniques. Art camp will begin on Wednesday, October 27 and will host two sessions every day until October 30. Sessions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets for all four days are €95. Space is limited, so those who wish to join should contact helensartspace@gmail.com for more information.
If you’re hosting an upcoming magical event, you can submit it to be included in a future Events Roundup by sending all relevant information to submissions@staff.mugglenet.com.
