The Cupboard Under the Stairs in Appleby, England, Is Open for Business

It’s time to dig into your savings because the Cupboard Under the Stairs in Appleby in the United Kingdom is open for business and ready to meet all your magical needs. From what we’ve heard, this is the perfect place to get all your New Year’s supplies.

This Harry Potter-inspired store officially opened on Halloween in 2021, and according to owner Jenny Gibbons, the response has been amazing, so much so that they are working on opening an online store. For those who are in or near Appleby, this magical family-run store can be found nestled in the Cloister, just off Low Wiend.

The store offers everything a Potterhead desires: From officially licensed Harry Potter merchandise to unique items that have been independently sourced, you’ll find something you love. To top it off, the store also serves as a wand shop, so you can pick out your own wand while you’re there. Other magical items include wizard candy, like Chocolate Frogs, as well as magical stationery, posters, and even bath bombs.

Because of the store’s size, you’ll literally feel like you’re in the cupboard under the stairs while ticking items off your shopping list. We can’t think of a more magical place to splurge on all things Potter.

Speaking of Harry Potter stores, it seems we’re not the only ones looking to treat ourselves to some magic. Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) has been making the rounds at some magical locations. He paid a visit to the Hole in Wand wizard minigolf course in York, England, and gave it a stellar review.

Honestly, it is magical. This place is incredible. I’ve never seen anything wizard-related quite as fun as this, and I’ve not seen mini-golf quite as fun as this either. It’s pretty special.

He also stopped by the Potions Cauldron, Hole in Wand’s sister business, where he enjoyed sampling some potions and took part in the fun activities on offer.

Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter and my love for the stories grew as I got older. It’s no surprise then that I love writing about all things Potter related. When I’m not writing about all the magic, you’ll find me reading (probably something Harry Potter related), listening to music, or writing some songs.
