“SpeakBeasty” Bonus Episode: “Can We Keep It?”

The long-awaited second trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has dropped, and the hosts of SpeakBeasty have recorded an in-depth breakdown of all the new footage.

Clocking in at two minutes and 45 seconds long, this second trailer is about 20 seconds longer than the first one and is crammed with a lot of new footage and dialogue. Some highlights include Eulalie Hicks going to retrieve Jacob Kowalski from his bakery, Newt taking on Credence and Rosier, and Dumbledore battling Grindelwald.

We’ve previously seen snippets of a fight between Dumbledore and Credence, but this trailer gives us a more extensive look at that sequence. From what we see, things become mirrored. Notably, Dumbledore is holding the Deluminator while he has Credence pinned to the ground. Is he using light to fight the darkness that is the Obscurus inside Credence? Host Marjolaine takes that theory a step further, speculating that Credence holds the darkness that was inside Ariana Dumbledore while the Deluminator contains her light. Is this the moment that who, or what, Credence is will be revealed?

The trailer also contains our first looks at the other candidates in the election for the leader of the International Confederation of Wizards: Vicência Santos and Liu Tao. We’re also given a more extended glimpse of Helmut, one of Grindelwald’s followers who is featured in his own character poster released by Warner Bros. last week.

In this second trailer, we also get a clearer shot of some mysterious writing on a mirror behind the bar at the Hog’s Head. Our hosts give some of their ideas of what the message says in this episode, but we would love to hear your theories!

This week’s podcast question is “What do you think the mirror writing says?” Send us your thoughts and theories at SpeakBeasty@gmail.com, or reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!

Since I spent too much time worrying about the correct way to write this bio, this is all I was able to come up with before the deadline.
