Hairy Pawter

by Mikaela Renshaw · August 26, 2016

  1. Hairy Pawter – Black Cocker Spaniel

An English Cocker Spaniel

Just like the human Harry, this cocker spaniel has some pretty messy fur. If a white lightning bolt were added to his forehead, he’d be a perfect likeness. But it isn’t just their looks that are similar. Cocker spaniels were bred as hunting dogs, a fitting attribute given Harry’s hunt for the Horcruxes.

2) Hairmione Manger – Bearded Collie

Bearded Collie

Whether she’s human or canine, Hermione’s hair is always fluffy. In addition to their fluffiness, bearded collies are known for being intelligent, just like a certain witch. The bearded collie’s skill at herding sheep also corresponds well to Hermione’s tendency to herd Harry and Ron into doing their homework.

3) Ruff Fleasley – Irish Setter

You can’t have a Weasley without flaming red hair, and the Irish setter certainly has that. Irish setters are also good family dogs, a good thing, given the size of Ron’s. They’re also known for being playful and companionable, fitting for Ron as one of Harry’s best friends and the one who’s usually more interested in having fun than doing homework.

4) Neville Sniffbottom – Chocolate Lab

There’s a reason Labs are popular pets; they make fantastic friends, just like Neville. Labs are also known for being kind and gentle, two traits that Neville exemplifies. And of course, the chocolate-colored coat is to match his brown hair.

5) Luna Fluffgood – White Siberian Husky

Siberian huskies are known to be intelligent dogs, which makes the breed a perfect fit for a Ravenclaw. They also make fantastic friends, although they can be a little independent, and disinclined to follow orders at time, much like Luna. They also both have piercing blue eyes.

6) Barko Tailfoy – Borzoi

With how proud he is of his pureblood heritage, Draco could never be anything other than a purebred, a purebred borzoi to be exact. And just like how Draco can boast about his family stretching back generations, the borzoi breed is also pretty ancient. Both the human and the canine share similar sharp pale features as well.

7) Vincent Wags and Beggory Goyle – Bulldogs

Since Draco’s two followers many times seem indistinguishable from each other, they are equally similar as dogs. And just as the bulldog is slow and can be a bit of a messy eater, so are they. Of course, bulldogs are also loyal, and whatever else you say about Crabbe and Goyle, they were certainly loyal to Draco.

8) Drooleus Hairgrid – Giant Malamute

A man as massive as Hagrid would be an equally massive dog, and a giant Malamute definitely fits the bill. They often are the size of their owner, if not larger. But despite their intimidatingly large size, giant Malamutes are sweet-tempered dogs, who are friendly, affectionate, and loyal, much like another gentle giant we all know and love.

9) Severuff Snap – Black Doberman

doberman

Dobermans are well known for their aggressiveness as guard dogs. Not a bad match for Snape’s personality, especially given his work to guard Harry’s life. However, like a Doberman, Snape is also loyal and will fight for the people he’s loyal to. And of course, the Doberman  has a black coat to match his all-black wardrobe.

10) Albone Dumbledog – Afghan Hound

White-Afghan-Hound

The long white hair of the Afghan hound perfectly matches Dumbledore’s flowing hair and beard. Both of them look quite dignified. Afghan hounds can also be quite playful, though, a fitting trait for a man who wears technicolor robes.

11) Furlores Tonguebridge – Pekingese

Pekingese_head

Pekingese are known to be stubborn, aggressive, and opinionated, all traits Umbridge expresses in spades. They also can be somewhat loud and at times, annoying. I’m sure the students of Hogwarts would agree that Umbridge herself is quite annoying. The dog’s small size also reflects her short stature.

12) Lord Moldycoat – Bull Terrier

When this breed isn’t trained properly, they can get vicious, and viciousness is most definitely a quality of the Dark Lord. The two also resemble each other. They both have white, smoothed-downed faces, and this one even seems to have red eyes. A chilling sight for any witch or wizard.
