Castium Revelio: Hotels and “Fun Home”!

by Mary Wojcicki · April 7, 2018

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another week of MuggleNet’s Casting News! As always, we’re bringing you all of the latest updates on the newest projects from our magical wizarding world alumni. Castium Revelio!

This week’s Casting News comes with an update on one project that we told you about in last week’s edition of Casting News: Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy, Cursed Child)’s BBC One adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Ordeal by Innocence! BBC One posted a video to Facebook from behind the scenes of the three-part adaptation, in which Bill Nighy discusses his experience on the project.

You can watch the video below!

Sir Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart) will be both starting in and producing a television adaptation of A Gentleman in Moscow for eOne, according to a report from Deadline Hollywood. The Amor Towles novel “tells the story of a man who is ordered to spend the rest of his life inside a luxury hotel.”

Branagh will play the novel’s protagonist Count Alexander Rostov, starting in Russia’s turbulent early 1920s and spanning 30 years. When the Count is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, he is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Having never worked a day in his life, he must now live in one room as history is being made outside.

Sir Michael Gambon is appearing in The Last Witness, a post-WWII-era thriller film, and its trailer has been released! According to Collider, “Momentum Pictures will release the film on VOD and Digital HD on May 29th.”

In THE LAST WITNESS[,] a young ambitious journalist risks love, a career and ultimately his life to uncover the true identity of an Eastern European refugee and his connection to the British Government’s collusion in the cover[-]up of one of Stalin’s most notorious crimes.

Watch the trailer below!

Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney)’s upcoming film Johnny English Strikes Again also has a trailer! The film, as the Hollywood Reporter writes, is the third installment in actor Rowan Atkinson’s Johnny English series of comedies about an unlikely superspy.

In the first official trailer, released Thursday morning, the ‘world’s greatest spy’ returns with a martini in hand — albeit in a classroom showing a group of schoolchildren the finer points of being a debonair member of the secret service.

When a letter from MI7 arrives, English must suit up again to face off against a mastermind hacker who has unveiled the secret identities of all active undercover agents.

You can watch the trailer for Johnny English Strikes Again below! The film will be released later this year.

Noma Dumezweni (Hermione, Cursed Child) has been featured the latest issue of Essence magazine! In a preview of the magazine as posted on Twitter by Prosper PR, Dumezweni discusses Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s portrayal of Hermione as a black woman.

Check it out! The issue is available on US newsstands now!

Cherrelle Skeete (Rose Granger-Weasley, Cursed Child) will be playing the role of Joan in the London transfer of the musical Fun Home, as reported by the Stage! The musical, which won five Tony awards for its Broadway run, will make its way to the Young Vic in June. (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child producer Sonia Friedman is also one of the producers of the London show.)

The show, which has music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, is based on Alison Bechdel’s 2006 graphic novel and explores her life and her relationships with her family at three different stages in her life.

Fun Home will run from June 18 to September 1 at the Young Vic. Find out more information about the production here!

Finally, Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone) is asking fans to “remain excited” as they wait for news on the solo film about his DC Extended Universe character, the Flash. Miller recently appeared at a press conference in Dubai for Middle East Film & Comic Con, according to an article from Cinema Express, but remained tight-lipped about the project.

That’s all we have for this week’s Casting News, but be sure to come back next week for all the latest updates! Don’t forget to tell us which projects you’re most looking forward to in the comments below!
