Review and Giveaway: Win a Harry Potter Advent Calendar from Cinereplicas!

by Betty Alvarez · October 14, 2019

While many are thinking about pumpkin spice and Halloween vibes, the moment the months ending in “ber” arrive, the only thing I can think about is that the holidays are coming. So, being assigned by MuggleNet to review Cinereplicas’ Harry Potter Advent Calendar came at a perfect time, when I’m already hunting for the best of the best.

Operating under the official Warner Bros. license, Cinereplicas’ official Harry Potter merchandise is always a great gift. As this was my first experience with an Advent calendar — since this is not a tradition practiced in my country — I did a little research about it before embarking on this adventure. The lesson I learned is that I don’t have self-control, because I know for a fact that if I were given this product as a present, I would open up the entire box instantly the moment I received it.

On the front side, the box has the Hogwarts crest in red and gold over a green background, which instantly gives it a Christmas look. This product includes 24 gifts divided in small numbered compartments, and the goal is to open one each day as a Christmas countdown. The box compartments are easy to open, but I recommend not pushing them too hard so you don’t break another one by accident.

Inside the box, you will find the following:

  • 1 pair of socks
  • 2 small pencils
  • 1 badge pin
  • 2 crests
  • 2 rubber bracelets
  • 1 package with 5 small phone stickers
  • 1 roll of tape
  • 1 package containing 3 sticky notes
  • 2 kid stamps
  • 1 charm with a chain
  • 2 magnets
  • 1 bandana
  • 1 keychain
  • 4 pins of the Hogwarts mascots
  • 1 eraser
  • 1 sharpener
  • 4 temporary tattoos

I instantly fell in love with all the stationery items. They are cute and practical, and they work — which surprisingly doesn’t seem to be a priority for some sellers. The sticky notes are so pretty that I honestly don’t want to use them, and the magnets have already found refuge on my fridge door.

Regarding the accessories, the Deathly Hallows charm looks very good, even though the chain feels a little bit fragile. However, the rubber-band bracelets are incredible and have become part of my current bracelet collection.

On the contrary, the pins didn’t meet my expectations. Even though they don’t look bad in pictures, up close you can see that the painting is not that good, and it makes it a little bit difficult to distinguish the mascot. Compared to the rest of the products, which look great, this was a bit disappointing.

In general, I think this could be a great present and become a very enjoyable activity to do with children. Unsurprisingly, my ownership of the majority of these items lasted only until I took the pictures, as they then took residence in my 8-year-old daughter’s bedroom, which testifies that the products are attractive to that demographic.
