Daniel Radcliffe Reveals His Next LEGO Project and Quarantine Nickname

by Lucy O'Shea · May 9, 2020

Daniel Radcliffe is keeping himself busy during this quarantine period. He kicked off Wizarding World Digital’s read-through of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, showed his support for a New York City bar in need, and is now building yet another LEGO set.

A few weeks ago, Radcliffe showed off his completed Jurrasic Park LEGO set to viewers of A Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and it seems as though he’s caught the building bug.

On an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, he revealed that his current LEGO building project is a Stranger Things set that contains both the real world and the infamous Upside Down.

The thing that has been really getting us through this quarantine has been large LEGO sets, which take up a lot of time [and] are very meditative. We made a Jurrasic Park one, which is very big, and we’ve just started a Stranger Things one. It’s half-built, but it’s very cool.

Radcliffe appeared on the show alongside Jane Krakowski, whom he worked with on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, a choose-your-own-adventure special, which premieres on Netflix on May 12.

When tackling some of Twitter’s viral quarantine trends, the pair discovered their quarantine nicknames. In this trend, your mood and the last thing you ate combine to form your (usually hilarious) nickname. Radcliffe became “contended honey-roasted almonds,” while Krakowski was “hopeful Nut Thins,” and host Clarkson was “overwhelmed red velvet cake.”

Responding to another viral trend, Krakowski surprised Radcliffe by revealing that the British confectionary staple wine gums would be her lockdown candy of choice. After a digression into describing wine gums and discussing chocolate-covered gummy bears, Radcliffe revealed that his quarantine candy of choice would be bite-size candy bars.

Any kind of tiny Mars bar like Snickers. I just want some of those that don’t feel like a full chocolate bar that you can just sort of hammer away for hours.

Of course, like many other talk shows during this coronavirus outbreak, The Kelly Clarkson Show used the power of the Internet to conduct the interview. One perk of socially distanced interviews is only needing to look TV-ready from the waist up, something that Krakowski had taken full advantage of. After she revealed that she was wearing sweatpants with her outfit, Radcliffe divulged that he had got fully dressed because he finds the idea of doing interviews without shoes on strange.
