Five Nonfiction Books Hermione Would Find Enlightening

by Karmen Allison · July 21, 2021

Hermione Granger is known to have knowledge on various subjects ranging from the Muggle world to the wizarding world. It is also a well-known fact that she enjoys spending time in the library collecting enlightening information. We compiled our own list of five books that we believe Hermione would find enlightening. These are nonfiction books that would inspire and motivate her to truly become the brightest witch of her age.

This book is all about unplugging and enjoying the moment. It centers around finding your most creative self while being “bored.” Hermione would use this book to inform Ron and Harry that they need to slow down and enjoy the moment instead of worrying about Quidditch and other extracurricular things. We can definitely see her enlightening everyone on the positive effects of being bored while they try to find forms of entertainment.

The Rural Diaries by Hilarie Burton Morgan

The Rural Diaries is about Hilarie Burton Morgan and how she discovered the charms of living a small-town life. Hermione Granger would definitely pick this book up for inspiration and motivation. She would use this book to give pep talks to everyone about Hilarie’s hard work and how it paid off in the end. She would maybe even use this book to argue for SPEW and how we should all be treated equally in this world. Hermione would pick up a copy of this book to further enlighten Ron on the payoffs of hard work and dedication.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is all about organization and general cleanliness. Hermione would find this book incredibly enlightening to help her stay more organized. She could really use it to balance all of her extra school work as well as her personal items. This book would be used to tell Harry and Ron to be tidier and clean up after themselves for sure. Hermione would be using this book to further clarify her points on organization and the importance of a tidy space.

The 12 Week Year by Brian P. Moran and Michael Lennington

This book is about setting goals and how to conquer them. Hermione would definitely find this book enlightening and inspiring. We can obviously see her using this to balance her schooling as well as mastering her magic. This would also be a book she would use to help Dumbledore’s Army prepare for the eventual battle with Lord Voldemort. The 12 Week Year would help her better set goals for the school year. We can also see Hermione inflicting this book’s information upon Ron to prepare and study more.

When Nobody Was Watching by Carli Lloyd

When Nobody Was Watching is about Carli Lloyd and her journey to becoming a player for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team. Hermione Granger would see this book as a guidebook to truly becoming the brightest witch of her age. This book would not only inspire but also motivate her to master her skills in all things in the wizarding world. She could also use the motivation and inspiration to help Harry battle against Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

These books have enlightened us in so many ways, and we feel as though Hermione Granger would easily see them the same way. We believe she would find them each to be inspiring, motivating, and transformative. Each of these books finds its own way of enlightening through stories of hard work, finding your inner peace, maintaining a clear headspace, and striving to reach your goals. Hermione would certainly seek these out in the library to enlighten herself and those around her, whether they ask for it or not.
