Events Roundup: Learn to Improvise, Study Some Magical Physics, and Solve a Murder

by Aly Kirk · June 5, 2021

It’s time to go and enjoy everything the summer has to offer. Maybe you can learn a new skill, win some cash prizes from a trivia game, or solve a murder mystery. With that in mind, let’s get started on this week’s Events Roundup.

Harry Potter Book Trivia

It’s that time again. Put all your Potter knowledge to the test and win some prizes. This livestreamed trivia contest will have you rolling in cash by the end of the night. Takeout Trivia will be your host for the evening. Teams will face off to answer 60 multiple choice questions over three rounds. You can join in online via Zoom, and winners will be awarded cash prizes. All the questions will cover content from the seven books of the series; there will be no movie questions, so you better start studying. Tickets are now on sale at $10 per team. The contest will start promptly at 8:30 p.m. EDT on June 9, June 23, and July 7. More information can be found on the event website.

Harry Potter Improverse

Have you ever wondered about how to turn your favorite books into a play? Well, now, with the Harry Potter Improverse, you can learn everything you need to know about stage acting and improv. This four-week course, starting June 12, will teach you the ins and outs of theater while taking a look into the world of Harry Potter. There will be eight classes in total over the four weeks, and they will all be held online, so anyone can join. Students will learn how to balance comedy with other genres, improve their acting reactions and background character roles, and all about the film techniques that are seen throughout the franchise. But be prepared – you are required to watch a weekly Harry Potter movie. Tickets for the classes are £100. More information can be found on the event website.

Muggle Science and Wizard Magic

Merge the wizarding and Muggle worlds together and learn about the physics of both. This class will go beyond what is seen in the films and talk about what makes wizards’ magic tick. Attendees will learn about the biology of a three-headed dog, the secrets of antigravity and what makes a broom fly, and so much more. Not only will you be learning about the secrets of the wizarding world, but you’ll be learning about certain aspects of the Muggle world too. This event will be hosted over Zoom on June 15, starting at 5:00 a.m. PDT (8:00 a.m. EDT). It’s free to join, so grab your tickets now. More information can be found on the event website.

Harry Potter Murder Mystery

Join the fun at the Mathis House in Toms River, New Jersey, for a thrilling adventure. There’s been a murder on Platform 9 3/4, and mystery looms in the air. While the audience enjoys a heated show, a full three-course meal will be served. This is an epic production you won’t want to miss. Tickets are on sale now for $75.00 per person. Dinner will start at 7:00 p.m. EDT on June 16. More information about tickets, the show, and dinner options are available on the event website.
