“Cursed Child” Toronto Opening Date and Ticket Release Announced

by Georgia Murgatroyd · October 19, 2021

It’s the news that Canadian Harry Potter fans have been waiting for: The new opening date for the production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Toronto has been announced, along with a ticket release date and confirmation of an all-Canadian cast.

After the news that the Canadian production would face further delays due to the pandemic, the announcement that doors to this magical production will begin previews on May 31, 2022, is sure to get fans excited. Tickets will be available at 9:45 a.m. on December 1, 2021, and can only be purchased on the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre website or by calling 1-800-461-3333.

The re-announcement of the Cursed Child Toronto cast is also sure to get excitement building. Taking on the role of Harry Potter is Trevor White, who will be joined by Gregory Prest (Ron Weasley), Sarah Afful (Hermione Granger), Trish Lindström (Ginny Weasley), and Brad Hodder (Draco Malfoy) as the central parental figures in the show.

Bringing to life the next generation of Hogwarts students will be Luke Kimball (Albus Potter), Thomas Mitchell Barnet (Scorpius Malfoy), and Hailey Lewis (Rose Granger-Weasley).

In a change from the previously announced cast, Fiona Reid will now be playing both Professor McGonagall and Dolores Umbridge. Joining the cast in so-far-unnamed roles are Kaleb Alexander, Mandy Keating, Miranda Meijer, Yemie Sonuga, Jennifer Thiessen, Kyle Wong, and Synthia Yusuf.

There is no news yet on whether the Toronto production of Cursed Child will operate a Friday Forty, although we expect it to follow in the footsteps of other productions and offer fans the chance to take part in the weekly lottery. We do know, however, that this production will join other North American productions in opening as a one-part play.

Are you excited to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Toronto? If you’ve already seen a production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, where in the world did you experience the magical show?
