Social Media Roundup: 20 Years of “Sorcerer’s Stone”

by Lucy O'Shea · November 28, 2021

Welcome back to another edition of MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup. It’s time to catch up with some of your favorite Wizarding World stars as they celebrate 20 years since the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Many Potter alumni took to social media to share the news that a TV special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, would be airing in 2022 to celebrate the anniversary of the first movie in the franchise. Invoking the movie The Blues Brothers, Matthew Lewis shared the official Return to Hogwarts promotional video to his Twitter with the caption “This New Year’s Day…we’re putting the band back together.”

Tom Felton also shared the announcement with his followers, asking, “Is this what school homecoming is like?”

Of course, where you find one Malfoy, you are likely to find another. Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) retweeted his on-screen son’s post with a fair warning to all involved.

As well as sharing the news that some of the cast of Sorcerer’s Stone would be reuniting for the New Year’s Day special, other alumni shared their own memories of the series. Emma Watson shared photos from the first and final Potter movies and paid tribute to her fellow cast and crew members. She also thanked fans for their support and for “fighting to make [the fandom] such an inclusive and loving place.”
