Tom Felton Reprising Role as Draco Malfoy in Broadway’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
A piece of wizarding world history is being made – for the first time ever, a member of the original Harry Potter film cast will reprise their role on stage in Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Tom Felton, best known for his decade-long portrayal of Draco Malfoy in the Potter films, will step back into the role this fall in the acclaimed stage production.

Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” (2002) and in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” (2025).
Felton will join the Broadway cast for a limited 19-week period beginning November 11, 2025, through March 22, 2026, at New York City’s Lyric Theatre, marking not only his return to the character of Draco but also his official Broadway debut.
Set 19 years after the final events of the Harry Potter series, Cursed Child follows the next generation of wizards, including the trio’s and Draco’s children, as they begin their own journeys at Hogwarts. Felton called the opportunity “a full-circle moment.”
Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in ‘Cursed Child’ this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.
He is correct that he’ll be the same age as Draco is when the character first appears on stage, though not through the majority of the play. Tom will turn 38 this September. Draco is 38 when he first appears in the play at the beginning of Albus and Scorpius’s second year. Most of the play, of course, happens during their fourth year.
In fact, today’s news was announced on Draco Malfoy’s birthday – June 5! (This year, he turns 45.)

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender praised Felton’s return, noting the unique legacy of both the character and the actor’s performance.
As fans of the wizarding world ourselves, we feel incredibly fortunate to welcome Tom into our ‘Cursed Child’ family on Broadway and to offer Harry Potter fans around the globe the once-in-a-lifetime excitement of seeing him reprise this iconic role, this time on-stage in New York City….
It’s not lost on us that this is a cultural moment charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion. Tom’s return to Hogwarts bridges generations of fans and breathes new life into a beloved story…. We can’t wait to see him inhabit this role once again with the same depth, gravity, and humanity he has always brought to Draco.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly, and fans can sign up at HarryPotterBroadway.com for early access by Monday, June 9 at 5:59 p.m. ET. The first presale begins Tuesday, June 10 at 11 a.m. ET, with general sales opening Thursday, June 12 at 11 a.m. ET.
The news comes just a month after fellow Potter alumni Bonnie Wright and Jason Isaacs spoke at selected Harry Potter and the Cursed Child performances.
Felton’s return not only brings a fan-favorite character back to life but also marks a milestone in the Harry Potter universe, uniting film and stage like never before. His limited-time engagement promises to be a magical moment for the franchise, and a rare treat for the fans lucky enough to get themselves tickets and witness Tom’s return to Draco live on stage.
