Author J.K. Rowling has donated £50,000 (~$82,000) to help victims of child slavery. The donation will fund the Centre of Hope in the Philippines, a refuge for victims of people trafficking.
Late last year we reported on the big Quidditch tournament which took place in New York City. Its founder, Alex Benepe, today tells us that they raised $5,000 for Book Aid International through t-shirt sales at the tournament and online.
This month our friends at the Harry Potter Alliance are organizing a campaign to fight for equality. There are two announcements related to this campaign that we’d like to share with you.
Dear Mr. Potter, started by 16-year-old Lily Zalon, is a non-profit book featuring stories, letters, and photos from Harry Potter fans around the world telling how the series has impacted and inspired them.
The book, which will be available for purchase this Summer, is being sold 100% non-profit to benefit youth literacy through the Harry Potter Alliance.
