The nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have just been announced and fans of the “Harry Potter” series will be disappointed once again with the lack of acknowledgements. Of the top industry accolades presented to performers, only the Screen Actors Guild Awards are selected solely by their peers. Two nominating panels – one for film and one for television – each composed of 2,100 randomly selected Guild members from across the United States, chose this year’s actor and stunt ensemble honors nominees.

As we previously mentioned, the UK Outlet, Sainsbury Entertainment, and Warner Bros. held a special contest to celebrate the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” Blu-ray/DVD in the UK, by awarding a grand prize that included Rupert Grint making an appearence at the winner’s school. Today, the BBC has reported that the winner, a student named Sarah Cotter from Bishop Walsh Catholic School, and the students in Sutton Coldfield, UK, were surprised to see that Rupert also brought a surprise guest, Oliver Phelps.
“Harry Potter” fans may be seriously disappointed, if not completely upset, by the list of nominations given for the upcoming Academy Awards as predicted by the “Broadcasting Film Critics Association – Critics Choice” website. In a new annual studio report card by “Reuters”, Warner Bros. Studios received a ‘B’ for the year despite having the largest box office hit of the year with the finale “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”, and the most commercially successful R-rated comedy of all-time in “The Hangover Part II”. Warner Bros. (WB) fell to the number 2 studio, behind Paramount Pictures for the year.
