Recipe of the Week: Rock Cakes

This week, we feature a recipe that Harry has had many times in Hagrid’s hut. These rock cakes, however, won’t break your teeth. Thank you for the submission, Misty.

Rock cakes are a bit cookie-like because, though you do cut the butter into the flour, they use minimal additional liquid. Rock cakes are small, round cakes that have a crunchy, sugar-coated exterior and the most wonderful, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture you could ever hope to enjoy. If you overcook them, they will turn out rather burnt and rock-like since there is little moisture in the dough, hence the name “rock cakes.”

For all our recipes, please visit our “Rosmerta’s Recipes” section. You can submit your own Harry Potter-related recipe for a chance to see it on the front page. Be sure to follow these guidelines.
