Mischief managed: sprinkling a little bit of magic into your online role playing!

by Keith Hawk · Published January 7, 2013 · Updated January 19, 2017

We extend an enchanted invitation to all those fellow Harry Potter believers who wish to experience the magic for themselves. Mischief Managed is a fully immersive magical experience, where the role player can craft and create their very own Hogwarts story. From boarding the Hogwarts Express on Platform 9 3/4 the magic begins, onward toward the Castle, a truly amazing 3D replica, which proves you with the opportunity to attend classes, sleep in the dormitories, and eat at your house table. Classes run regularly held by professors, who aim to keep the magic flowing. May it be a boggart in the wardrobe or how to care for flubberworms, they are magical, interactive, and fun. Outside of class times, you are able to try out for the Quidditch team, explore the extensive grounds, and even get caught by the prefects getting up to various pranks and mischief. Be warned, however, loss of house points, detention in the library, or even kitchen duty may follow as punishment.

The role play group is run by the players who are dedicated to keeping the world of Harry Potter alive. Regular whole group role plays are planned, and all ideas are welcomed. Players are also encouraged to contribute; being able to run student groups, apply as prefects, and professors. Quidditch is also played, with players able to train and actually swoop across the pitch on brooms, but watch out for Bludgers! From character concept to living out your Hogwarts life, you are the creator, the story teller, and crafter of your experience. Of course, they believe firmly in the cannon of the Harry Potter universe, and players must apply and stick to the rules that safe guard this amazing world. Of course, now the magic has got you comes the technical, Muggle-y bit!

You can check out photos of the world here and here.

To enter into the Mischief Managed world, you must join Second Life, which is free and simple to download and join. The interface gets easier after a few plays, and help will always be given to those at Hogwarts in need! They have an out-of-character welcome area, where help is always at hand, in the form of expert ALOs, who handle all new applications. The area also provides a place for new players to set as home and free uniforms. Here you can meet up with fellow role players and get to grips with the new environment. Once you have installed the Second Life viewer, simply take the link, or “landmark” as they call them, to the Mischief Managed sim.
