“Potter” Stars Tackle the Bard’s Greatest Tragedy

by Claire Furner · Published October 28, 2013 · Updated October 16, 2017

Harry Melling and Isabella Laughland, known for playing Dudley Dursley and Leanne in the Harry Potter films, are to co-star in Chichester Festival Theatre’s upcoming production of King Lear.

Melling and Laughland will play the Fool and Cordelia, respectively, alongside legendary stage and screen actor Frank Langella, in one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies.

The production will run for just 32 performances, opening this Thursday. For more information on the production and to purchase tickets, you can visit the theater’s website here.

Not able to make King Lear, or in fact, any recent theater production starring Harry Potter actors? Well, many Muggles may feel your pain, but fortunately, MuggleNet is here to help! While we can’t whip up a Portkey or connect you to the Floo Network, we can bring the next best thing: theater reviews!

The MuggleNet blog is packed full of fun, fan-written features that wouldn’t usually make their way onto the main site, and now that includes film, television, and theater reviews for all the latest Potter-related projects. Why not check out our thoughts on Spamalot, starring Warwick Davis, or Evanna’s recent turn in Houdini, plus many more besides.

You can explore the blog in full here. Let us know you what you think in the comments section below.

Quotes

  • “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?”

#PotterHistory

  • August 16, 2004 – A passage from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince describing a character we would come to learn was the new Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour, was revealed.

Did You Know

  • “Pensieve” is made up of two words: French for “to think” (“penser”) and an English synonym of “strainer” (“sieve”). A Pensieve strains your thoughts!
