UPDATE: Daniel Radcliffe Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

by Callum Lloyd Thomas · October 29, 2015

UPDATE: Nov. 12

Today was the day Dan received his star on the Walk of Fame! Check out a video and some photos from the ceremony below:

Skip to 36:20 to hear his acceptance speech. Talking about the star, Radcliffe said:

It’s really an incredible honor. We [Brits] have a national embarrassment about people saying nice things about us, so I was taken aback at first but then I had a real sense of gratitude. Only about 20% of people who work in film and television end up on the Walk of Fame. It’s kind of amazing. I don’t know if they remove these things, but no matter how badly I mess up, they can’t remove it. It’s a very transient industry, but there’s something permanent about [the star]

He also briefly addressed J.K. Rowling’s latest project, the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, saying:

I’m definitely interested in ‘Cursed Child,’ [but] I think it would be a weird thing for me to sit through when I would have to be so heavily disguised. I’m no longer part of that world, nor should I be.

Daniel Radcliffe will receive a prestigious star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles next month. The actor will be presented with his star at a ceremony in LA on November 12 and in doing so, will become the 2,565th name on the historical star-studded walkway. Fear not, those of us who live too far away to be able to witness the event in person can still see the ceremony, which will be streamed online at 11:30 a.m. PST on the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s website.

Ana Martinez, the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s ceremonies producer, said,

Fans of all ages have been waiting in anticipation of Daniel’s star ceremony. They are constantly asking when it will happen. Finally, we have him here in Hollywood, and we are proud to dedicate his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Radcliffe will be joined by the director of Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, Chris Colombus, as well as the comedian Chris Hardwick with Hollywood Chamber President and CEO Leron Gubler dedicating the star to the British actor.

Back in 2007, Radcliffe along with his Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, had their hand, foot, and wand-prints molded outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, now known as TCL Chinese Theatre. You can check out a video of the event below:

Radcliffe, who has gone on to carve out a pretty impressive career for himself since the final Potter film was released in 2011, will next be seen taking on the role of Igor in Fox‘s latest horror offering, Victor Frankenstein, which is scheduled to hit theaters Friday, November 25.

Are you excited to hear that Dan is getting a star on the Walk of Fame? Will you be attending the ceremony in person next month? Let us know your thoughts!
