Tom Felton Cast in Upcoming Indie Film
Tom Felton, known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, has recently landed a role in a new indie film. This is the third casting announcement for Felton in recent weeks since it was also announced that he will also star in A United Kingdom and Message to the King, both expected to come out sometime late next year.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Tom Felton will star alongside Kate Mara in the currently untitled film, which will tell the true story of Iraq War hero Megan Leavey (Mara):
[T]he drama [centers] on Leavey, a Marine in a K9 bomb sniffing unit in Iraq, and the bond with her dog, Rex. They served two six-month tours and undertook over 100 missions before a detonation wounded them both.
Felton will play a veteran dog handler, while actress Edie Falco will play Leavey’s mother. Gabriela Cowperthwaite, the brains behind the documentary Blackfish, will be directing the film.
Felton’s next upcoming role is in Risen, which is expected to be released on January 26, 2016.
