Emma Watson, Emma Thompson Set to Appear on US “Red Nose Day”

by Toni Louise Cooper · Published May 7, 2016 · Updated September 22, 2016

After debuting on US television last year, Red Nose Day is set to return for a two-hour NBC special on May 26, and not one, but two Harry Potter cast members will be making an appearance!

That’s right, get those TV reminders in motion because you won’t want to miss both Emma Watson and Emma Thompson on the live-from-LA broadcast. Red Nose Day, an event run by charity Comic Relief and first started by British director Richard Curtis, began in the UK back in 1985 with the aim to raise funds for those living in poverty.

In its first airing in the US last year, the campaign raised more than $23 million to help children/youngsters living in poor-stricken conditions and to try to give them better lives. The money raised by this year’s event will go toward charities such as Boys & Girls Club of America, Children’s Health Fund, Oxfam America, and Save the Children.

Watson and Thompson will be joined by other famous faces, including Ellen DeGeneres, Ellie Kemper, Julianne Moore, Tracy Morgan, Liam Neeson, Paul Rudd, Danny Trejo, and many more.

Tune into the show from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET on NBC, May 26!

Will you be watching? Are you excited to see appearances from the two Emmas? Let us know with your comments.

Quotes

  • “She stopped you killing me. And I’ve seen the real you, I saw you last year. You’re a wreck. You’re barely alive. That’s where all your power got you. You’re in hiding. You’re ugly, you’re foul —”

#PotterHistory

  • January 20, 2010 – It is confirmed that Alexandre Desplat will compose the music for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.

Did You Know

  • “Pensieve” is made up of two words: French for “to think” (“penser”) and an English synonym of “strainer” (“sieve”). A Pensieve strains your thoughts!
