David Yates Spills “Fantastic Beasts” Sequel Spoilers at Press Junket!

David Yates, the director of the final four Harry Potter films and the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, spoke at the press junket for the film in New York City and confirmed one of the major fan theories that has been floating around since the announcement that the Fantastic Beasts films will follow the rise of Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald!

If you’re avoiding spoilers for the film franchise, turn back now: We at MuggleNet can confirm that Albus Dumbledore will appear in the second Fantastic Beasts film! Yates said,

In the second movie, Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt. […] We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore.

Because the film is a prequel to the Harry Potter series, we know that Michael Gambon will not be reprising the role. When asked about casting, Yates joked,

Any suggestions would be good.

One name briefly discussed during the junket was that of Jared Harris. (Harris is the son of late actor Richard Harris, who portrayed Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films.) Until casting is officially announced, however, we will have to speculate!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released into theaters on November 18.

What do you think of this news, and whom would you cast to portray a younger Albus Dumbledore?
