Social Media Roundup: Klingons and… Otters?

by Megan Fischer · October 1, 2017

Happy October, witches, wizards, Muggles, and No-Majs! We’ve got the latest Social Media Roundup for all things Potter alumni!

Starting off, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) has had a big week with Star Trek: Discovery premiering last Sunday. Isaacs took to Twitter to share this sweet snap of the cast.

Next week on #StarTrekDiscovery…the Discovery. Finally. The captain, the crew, the weird shit. I like to think of it as Episode One 2.0 pic.twitter.com/q7W8j1gP7U

Haven’t decided if you want to watch the series? Check out our review of the premiere!

Moving right along to the queen herself, J.K. Rowling was finding herself a bit down and asked Twitter to send her pictures of otters to cheer her up, and boy, did they deliver.

Incompetent clowns in power and the opposition turning into a solipsistic personality cult. I’m so ****ing depressed. Send otter pictures.

Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) went back to Hogwarts for the first time and celebrated the occasion by buying her first Chocolate Frog!

Went to Harry Potter world @UniStudios today to promote @wisdomcbs AND IT WAS AMAZING! Tried butterbeer and I got my first chocolate frog! pic.twitter.com/hDbg5oJL79

Stan Yanevski (Viktor Krum) also embraced his wizarding past and shared this adorable pic of himself in a Durmstrang sweater.

Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) looked dashing in a suit as the best man in a wedding!

Splitting best man duties at our kid’s wedding this summer… with our other kid. Probably the most nervous I’ve ever been before anything. Thrilled to be a part of the beautiful couple’s new life. @editbotlewis @sarahprobin @mranthonylewis #SimplyTheBest

And wrapping up our roundup, Katie Leung (Cho Chang) posted a beautiful tribute on her Instagram to her grandmother, who passed away.

Granny Leung: a formidable wee woman who lived for her children and grandchildren and very little else. Blessed to love you and to be loved by you 婆婆. Rest now. Miss ye. ❤️

A post shared by Katie Leung (@_katieleung_) on Sep 23, 2017 at 12:09am PDT

Sending lots of love and hugs to the Leung family!

That wraps up our Alumni Roundup for this week! Tune in in two weeks for the next one!

Did You Know

Evanna Lynch found out about the auditions for the role of Luna Lovegood after reading a news post on MuggleNet. She has been a long-term fan of the series and the website. She made Luna’s lion hat in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and created some of the jewelry worn by Luna in the films.

Potter Quote

“I don’t know who Maxime thinks she’s kidding. If Hagrid’s half-giant, she definitely is. Big bones… the only thing that’s got bigger bones than her is a dinosaur.”
