House of MinaLima Announces Yearlong Japanese Pop-Up!

by Mary Wojcicki · March 30, 2019

The graphic design duo behind some of the most magical art in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series, MinaLima, is bringing their House of MinaLima exhibition to Japan for an entire year!

Following their success at the Hankyu Osaka British Fair last year, Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima have announced that House of MinaLima will be returning to Osaka this April. Until early 2020, they will present their 18 years of creative collaboration at a location in Osaka’s Orange Street shopping district.

In addition to being able to see some of the art from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series, fans will be able to purchase some of MinaLima’s designs. These include pieces from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, as well as their illustrated classic books for HarperCollins Publishers and MinaLima’s own Collective Nouns series.

While we don’t know the exact opening date or location of MinaLima’s new pop-up yet, we can tell you that you won’t want to miss it!

If you can’t make it to Osaka, don’t worry! The House of MinaLima in London’s Soho is still in operation, and you can always find MinaLima’s designs online.

Press Release
House of MinaLima lands in Japan!

Exhibiting at Orange Street for a year-long pop up from April 2019 until early 2020

Following great success at the Hankyu Osaka British Fair last year, London graphic design gallery House of MinaLima returns to the city. This time designers Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima will present their 18 years of creative collaboration in a year-long pop[-]up shop in Osaka’s fashionable Orange Street shopping district.

MinaLima will offer for sale a curated selection of their most recognised designs from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, alongside their illustrated classic books for Harper Collins, and the studio’s Collective Noun series.

Wizarding World Graphic Art Collections:

Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, creators of the graphic universe of the Warner Bros. Pictues [sic] Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, have designed countless graphic props such as The Marauder’s Map and Daily Prophet newspapers, which have now become iconic designs. Visitors can examine the details of the artworks as they were originally created for the films.

Alongside the limited-edition art prints, MinaLima-designed postcard sets, prop replica notebooks and other stationery and accessories based on artwork from the films will be on display and available for purchase.

Illustrated Classics:

MinaLima will also present their bestselling illustrated classic book series: Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, The Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, and The Secret Garden. Deluxe, gold-foiled hardcover editions feature vivid artworks and magical interactives and make for colourful adventures appealing to illustrated book lovers, collectors, and families. A series of limited-edition art prints and stationery items will accompany the publications.

MinaLima Collections:

An explosion of colour and humour, MinaLima’s ‘Collective Noun’ prints and stationery celebrate one of the joyful eccentricities of the English language.

Did You Know

Quidditch started in the 11th century at a place called Queerditch Marsh, which is not marked on Muggle maps because wizards have made the place unplottable. Originally, it was quite a crude game played on broomsticks with just the Quaffle.

Potter History

November 7, 2010 – The official Harry Potter website announces that Alexandre Desplat will return to compose the music for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Potter Quote

“Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff house. He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about. […] Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort.”
