Warner Bros. CEO Reveals New Information About “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” and “Fantastic Beasts” 3

Potterheads all over the world are incredibly excited about what might be the most exciting Harry Potter game release to date. The first trailer for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was released last year in November, and in early February this year, we were treated to a new trailer that provided us with a little bit more information on what we can expect. Now, thanks to a new interview with the CEO of Warner Bros., Kevin Tsujihara, we know a bit more about the game and its release.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Tsujihara spoke about various new projects Warner Bros. is currently working on, including the third Fantastic Beasts movie and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. He revealed that the augmented reality game will be released this summer by Niantic, the developer of Pokémon GoPokémon Go was a massive success, with everyone everywhere playing the game – we can only assume that we can expect the same kind of excitement when Wizards Unite is released.

Rumors that Niantic was making a Harry Potter-inspired game that will be similar to Pokémon Go have been doing the rounds since forever, but the game had been teased for over a year before we finally saw the first teaser in November last year – and anyone who’s seen it will be able to testify that it was super vague. In the meantime, it has been revealed that the main idea of the game will be for players to locate and deal with magical occurrences to keep Muggles from learning the truth about the wizarding world.

Luckily for all of us who are desperate for more information, Niantic has confirmed that the game will also feature some iconic Harry Potter characters – this means Harry, Ron, and Hermione will definitely be in the game. We can probably expect Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, and Albus Dumbledore to make an appearance too. For now, we can only speculate, since Niantic has not yet confirmed how many characters from the franchise will actually appear.

Another question that pops up whenever the game comes to mind is how it will be made available. Will all of us have to upgrade our phones? (Because if we have to, we probably will, for the love of all things Potter). Will it only be available on certain devices? The latter is a question that might have been answered, and most might not like what they hear. Apple technically almost rules the world, but this time Samsung seems to be ahead for once. There are rumors that suggest that the game might be exclusive to Samsung upon its release. This means that Samsung users will be able to get it first while non-Samsung users will have to wait a while longer. The game will also make use of 5G speed, which will be rolled out during this year.

On the Fantastic Beasts side of things, Tsujihara revealed that Warner Bros. has a good idea of what it’s going to do to better on the second film’s somewhat disappointing performance. He is positive that the third film might even do better than the first, saying that J.K. Rowling is hard at work on the next script.

J.K. Rowling is really working hard now on that third script, and we’re going to get it right. She has an incredible vision of where she wants to go with this that is incredibly exciting.

He added that what makes it hard to get the films right is the big core fan base.

The fan base really knows the lore and they want to go deep into these characters. But what you don’t want to do is intimidate people. You want to be able to create a stand-alone movie that’s enjoyable for someone who isn’t steeped in the lore.

If there’s one thing Tsujihara seems to understand, it’s how the minds of the Potter fandom work. Hopefully, this means that the next Fantastic Beasts film is going to be absolutely epic. While we wait for the next film, we can start to gear up for Wizards Unite, which is surely going to take over our lives completely once it’s released – and we’re totally okay with that.

Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter and my love for the stories grew as I got older. It’s no surprise then that I love writing about all things Potter related. When I’m not writing about all the magic, you’ll find me reading (probably something Harry Potter related), listening to music, or writing some songs.
