New Image and Trailer for “Escape from Pretoria” Released

With just under two months until it hits theaters, a new trailer from Daniel Radcliffe’s upcoming movie Escape from Pretoria has been released.

Based on the lives of African National Congress activists Tim Jenkin (Radcliffe) and Stephen Lee (Daniel Webber), Escape from Pretoria tells the thrilling story of their escape from the maximum-security prison in South Africa.

The new trailer gives audiences more insight into Jenkin and Lee’s time in prison as well as their attempt to escape using wooden keys. Also featured in the trailer is Ian Hart (Professor Quirrell), who plays anti-apartheid campaigner Denis Goldberg.

Empire Magazine has also revealed an exclusive image from the movie, which shows Radcliffe in the role of Tim Jenkin and Webber as Lee in what appears to be part of the planning for an escape attempt.

Speaking as part of the magazine’s “100 Greatest Movies of the Century” issue, Radcliffe stated that his success from Potter has allowed him to pursue the stories he wants to tell, such as the story of Tim Jenkin:

With my specific career, Potter has afforded me to do my own thing, and I wanted to be part of helping to tell this story. That was enough of a reason for me.

Escape from Pretoria will hit theaters across the United States on March 6.

I was given a copy of Philosopher's Stone in 2001, and instantly, I was hooked. Since then, my passion for Potter has been equaled only by my passion for fair access to education (and watching motorsport). A spell I wish could exist in the Muggle world is the summoning charm because this Hufflepuff is not a "particularly good finder"!
