Social Media Roundup: The Magic of “Harry Potter”

by Sarah Wylde · May 31, 2020

Welcome back to MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup! In this edition, the stars of the Wizarding World share some Harry Potter magic, love for their dogs, new ventures, and support for George Floyd.

Harry Potter cast members Bonnie Wright, Katie Leung (Cho Chang), and Jamie Campbell Bower (young Gellert Grindelwald) used their social media platforms to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement and to remember George Floyd.

As the situation continues to develop, more Potter alumni may use their social media platforms to show their support and solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Elsewhere on social media, the focus was still very much on the current pandemic. Afshan Azad (Padma Patil) and Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) shared something that we can all relate to during quarantine.

There was also a lot of love for man’s best friend over the past few weeks. Tom Felton found his Patronus in this adorably funny dog.

Chris Rankin had to take his dog to the vet for a toothache.

Bonnie Wright took to Instagram to wish her dog,  Billy Blue, a happy second birthday.

As well as celebrating her pup’s birthday, Bonnie shared a homemade veggie stock recipe with her followers.

Sticking with the wizarding world’s most famous family, some other former Weasleys have been sharing their new projects these past few weeks. James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) released another episode of their Double Trouble. This episode featured everyone’s favorite Slytherin, Tom Felton.

The #doubletroublepodcast with @TomFelton is now wherever you get your podcasts from and here on the @YouTube channel. https://t.co/pz0tGHlanc Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did recording it. 🙂

Chris Rankin also showed fans a glimpse at some merchandise and what may be coming on his new online store.

Away from the Weasleys, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) took to Twitter to share his love for the Potter series.

We’re loving the Harry Potter at Home readings of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and it seems as though the stars of the Wizarding World are loving it too!

Having been involved in reading a chapter, Evanna Lynch showed some support for the other famous faces involved in the project. She seems to have particularly enjoyed Jonathan Van Ness’s (Queer Eye) rendition of the Sorting Hat’s song!
