“Hogwarts Legacy” Release Delayed to 2022

Hogwarts Legacy announced on its social media channels today that the much-anticipated game will not be released this year as previously expected. Instead, it has been pushed back to 2022 to give it more time for development.

The posts read as follows:

We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us, so we are giving the game the time it needs.

Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022.

The reaction from fans seems to be largely accepting of the delay, with the hopes that the final product will be of the highest quality, though some are questioning why the game was announced just a few months ago if it was not nearly completed.

Warner Bros. Games officially announced Hogwarts Legacy last September (which, of course, was well into the pandemic, so that can’t explain the delay), following footage of the game being leaked back in 2018. The immersive, open-world role-playing game will take place in the wizarding world of the late 1800s and feature spells, potions, beasts, combat, and dangerous missions. It will be available for multiple consoles.

Are you patiently waiting for Hogwarts Legacy? What do you think might have caused the game to be pushed back by a year?
