Potter DIY: The “Daily Prophet”

by Mark

The news cycle can be a bit of a bummer these days, and we could all use a little more magic in our lives. Below are some easy steps to make your own copy of the Daily Prophet with whatever headlines you want.

What You’ll Need:

  • Six sheets of A4 paper, plus a little extra
  • Glue
  • A computer
  • A printer

Directions:

Step 1: To begin, pick a paper of your choice (the paper I used was A4 in size). The number of sheets should be equal or even. I used six sheets resulting in 12 pages (back to back). Grab your laptop or computer and browse on Pinterest or Google Images for templates of the Daily Prophet.

Step 2: After grabbing images, open Microsoft Word and insert the pictures on each page. You can adjust the margin settings based on how much border you want to leave.

Step 3: Print the pages one by one, and make sure to print the templates back to back for a seamless DIY experience and also so the pages come out in order when you’re reading later.

Step 4: Now, separate the pages into two stacks of three, double-checking the order. Cut a piece of paper an inch and a half in width and the same height as your papers in portrait mode. This strip of paper will serve as connectors for the pages. Glue the strip of paper along the side of one stack of papers and stick the other three printed Daily Prophet pages to it so your paper is now double-wide. Fold the glued papers in half along the seam, and decide which front or headline you would like to see.

And voila, you have your latest issue of the Daily Prophet. And don’t forget, never let a Muggle touch this paper!
