New York “Harry Potter” Store Announces Opening Date

There’s not much longer to wait before the New York Harry Potter store is open for your shopping pleasure! The first official Harry Potter store announced on social media today that it will open its doors on June 3.

Located at Broadway and East 22nd Street, with entrances on both Broadway and Fifth Avenue, Harry Potter New York boasts “the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts merchandise under one roof.” It will feature everything from clothing to wands to broomsticks to sweet treats like Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans. According to the store’s website, it will include interactive elements and exclusive products.

Upon entering the store, visitors will pass under a giant model of Fawkes the phoenix. A Dirigible Plum tree will be surrounded by magical creature plushies. Visitors can also pose for pictures with the Ministry of Magic phone booth or the griffin that guards Dumbledore’s office. And there will be a personalization area, where shoppers can get a wand engraved, a journal embossed, or a set of robes embroidered with their name.

The website is also teasing two virtual reality experiences coming this summer, “Chaos at Hogwarts” and “Wizards Take Flight.” We can’t wait to learn more!

In addition, MinaLima has just announced that they will be opening another House of MinaLima location within Harry Potter New York.

Though the store’s website does not currently mention it, there have also been indications the store will include food services, such as for butterbeer and butterbeer ice cream. With three floors and 21,000 sq. ft., it seems like almost everything sold at the Wizarding World theme parks and more could potentially be available in this flagship store.

This opening date has been a long-awaited announcement – last year, the store announced its opening was delayed by COVID-19 from summer 2020 to sometime in 2021. Not long after, its online store opened for business.

In addition, there are indications that more such stores could be coming to different locations around the world. So even if you’re not in or near New York, you may be able to look forward to this magical shopping experience before long.
